Michigan Manufacturers Announce Association-Wide Reorganization, Promotes Lobbyist to V.P. & Welcomes New Addition

LANSING (June 3, 2020) — The Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA), the state’s leading advocate focused solely on securing a prosperous future for Michigan manufacturers, today announced an internal reorganization designed to align functions across the Association to present a unified and strong value proposition to manufacturers, policymakers and stakeholders across the state.

“This is the first step in the re-envisioning of MMA’s powerful brand, which has represented manufacturers large and small for over 118 years,” said MMA President & CEO John Walsh. “Our foundation will remain firmly rooted in member service and effective advocacy while additional investments and support services will make our brand even more influential.”

Delaney McKinley, who has been with the organization since 2011, has been promoted to Vice President of the newly formed Membership, Marketing & Events Department. The team is tasked with improving and amplifying MMA’s brand, creating outstanding experiences for members and prospects to grow the Association’s diverse membership.

Before joining MMA, McKinley worked in the Michigan Legislature and then served as Manager of Government & Public Relations for Jackson National Life where she lobbied on behalf of the company on state and federal efforts. More recently, McKinley was Senior Vice President of the Grant Consulting Group, an advocacy firm specializing in government and public relations consulting for clients at the international, federal, state and local levels.

“Delaney McKinley is a highly productive and well-respected member of our team, in recent years acting in a dual role serving both membership and government affairs,” Walsh noted. “Her unique experience and skill set will help us successfully attain our membership growth and brand elevation goals.”

David Worthams has joined the MMA Government Affairs team as Director of Human Resource Policy, leading the organization’s efforts with the Legislature and state agencies on workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, education and workforce development, workplace safety, health care benefits and labor relations.

Worthams previously served more than 10 years at the Michigan Bankers Association — most recently as the Vice President of Policy — and, before that, with the Michigan Municipal League. He also adds exceptional legislative and public policy experience to the MMA team as a former Kalamazoo County Road Commissioner and having served seven years with the Michigan Legislature including as a Policy Advisor for former Michigan Speakers of the House Rick Johnson and Craig DeRoche.

“I am delighted to welcome David Worthams aboard as we work to support moving the manufacturing industry toward even better days,” said Walsh. “His remarkable experience and well-regarded reputation will serve our members well as the industry continues to innovate, invest and create jobs and opportunities.”

Additional investments and strategic initiatives will be announced by MMA in the coming months. For more information on MMA’s reorganization, or to schedule a call with MMA President & CEO John Walsh, contact MMA’s Delaney McKinley at 517-487-8530 or mckinley@mimfg.org.
