LANSING (Sept. 23, 2022) — After an extensive interview process and rigorous discussion of the Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA) Board of Directors, MMA has endorsed Governor Gretchen Whitmer in her bid for reelection in November.

“We have worked productively with Governor Whitmer on the manufacturing sector’s top policy priorities to help our members compete effectively in the global economy,” said Mike Johnston, MMA Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and Workforce Development. “We believe Governor Whitmer recognizes the need to compete for manufacturing capital investment through aggressive economic development incentives and to build a world-class workforce with support from effective programs like the Going PRO Talent Fund and Michigan Reconnect.”

Much work remains to be done on improving results from Michigan’s K-12 education system, increasing predictability in the environmental permitting processes and enhancing research and development incentives to attract future innovation. MMA intends to work with Governor Whitmer and legislative leaders to support manufacturers large and small across the state to increase Michigan’s competitiveness and improve our position as the global leader in manufacturing and innovation.
