Michigan manufacturers have prevailed over unimaginable obstacles to support the world with necessary and life-sustaining products throughout the pandemic. In Michigan, we are particularly proud the solution that will bring the COVID-19 crisis to an end emerges from the heart of the Great Lakes State by Pfizer.

Developed by a proven process, the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective. After decades of research, months of clinical development, and tens of thousands of diverse volunteers in clinical trials, scientists and doctors worldwide have joined forces to bring us a safe, effective vaccine for COVID-19 and help give us our lives back.

The development and distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine are pivotal steps toward saving lives and returning the manufacturing economy to normal operations. Yet statewide poll data shows only 66 percent of Michiganders are willing to get the vaccine when it is available to them. Vaccine hesitation could stand as a significant barrier to the state’s goal of vaccinating 70 percent of Michigan residents over the age of 16.

MMA is working closely with Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Administration as well as business and health leaders to address vaccine hesitation and accelerate the vaccine distribution process.

Other states are rapidly vaccinating residents, getting back on track quickly to normal life. Michigan does not want to fall behind. Our businesses are relying on rapid vaccination to lift health and safety restrictions and to permit the continued reengagement of Michigan’s economy.

As employers and trusted community leaders, you can help to get the word out that vaccines are safe, effective and vital. Visit michigan.gov/COVIDvaccine for the most current information.
