John J. Walsh was named President & CEO in January 2020, leading a team of advocates dedicated to securing a prosperous future for Michigan manufacturers. Before taking on the role as MMA’s leader, John served as the State Budget Director for Michigan, Director of Strategic Policy for Governor Rick Snyder, three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives and as an executive at Schoolcraft College.

She leads the organization’s communications strategy, directs membership programs and oversees an industry-leading platform of cost-effective insurance programs and discounted services to support member operations.

Mike Johnston leads MMA’s lobbying efforts, with focus on tax, energy and workforce issues. He has been twice recognized as one of the 2020 Crain’s Detroit Business 50 Names to Know in Lobbying. He coordinates the MMA Government Affairs, Energy Policy and Tax Policy Committees as well as spearheading member-focused workgroups.
