Beginning on March 29, 2019, Michigan employers became required, for the first time ever, to provide certain employees with paid medical leave. The law, the Paid Medical Leave Act (PMLA), imposes penalties if your company’s benefit plan is in violation. This makes Michigan one of just 11 states with such a mandate, resulting in manufacturers asking ‘what’s next?’
The Michigan Manufacturers Association has worked with leading professionals to develop a library of resources relating to the PMLA and its potential impact. One essential resource is MMA's PMLA: Basics of Compliance, a single-page breakdown of who is covered, what is covered and what can happen when non-compliance occurs.
The Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA) is the state's leading advocate focusing solely on securing a prosperous future for Michigan manufacturers through effective advocacy, meaningful education and strategic business services. Our members range in size from small manufacturers to the world's largest and most well-known corporations, and all look to MMA as the go-to organization advocating on behalf of Michigan manufacturers.
