Senate Bill 946 underscores the importance of public-private partnerships between employers and Michigan’s workforce system to design training models that support changing employer demand.
LANSING (Apr 19, 2018)— As the lead statewide organizations driving Michigan’s talent development, the Michigan Works! Association and the Michigan Manufacturers Association today issued a joint statement in support of Senate Bill 946, which will ensure ongoing operation of the effective and popular Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF), soon to be renamed the Going Pro Talent Program:
“We strongly support SB 946. This bill will ensure that the Skilled Trades Training Fund, the nation’s premier talent development program, will continue to support manufacturers and Michigan Works! organizations as they develop truly collaborative and demand-driven solutions to eliminate Michigan’s talent gap.
Michigan Works! and the Michigan Manufacturers Association will continue to work alongside this administration in getting government, business and education working together to create a workforce for the future – with careers that can sustain families and enrich communities.”
