LANSING (June 18, 2020) — The Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA) today released the following statement:
Statement of MMA President & CEO John J. Walsh on Racism and Intolerance
As President of the Michigan Manufacturers Association representing an industry that impacts all Michiganders and provides wages for over 623,000 employees, it is incumbent upon us to address the importance of equal treatment of all people.
There is no room for hatred, racism, or intolerance in the manufacturing industry. Not now. Not ever.
Right now, regardless of our intentions and our past efforts, we understand that we need to be honest and acknowledge where things have fallen short and where we can and will do more.
To that end, we are committed to standing by our employees and the communities where we operate to advance solutions that will eradicate racism and build a brighter and better tomorrow.
This is not the time to stay silent or to be idle. We will not allow the past to continue to dictate the way that we do things. We will stand up for what’s right and we will hold ourselves accountable to grow, to learn, and to help all be better.
