MiUI: New UIA System Launching in December

The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new Unemployment Insurance system called MiUI that will launch 12/15/25.

The new MiUI system represents a significant modernization that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Michigan's unemployment insurance program. MiUI will have a user-friendly design that provides updated filing capabilities for quarterly wage reporting (including four file formats: ICESA, Delimited, EFW2, and XML) and increased fraud detection. Additional system benefits are:

• Mobile-friendly.
• Replaces decade-old Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) system.
• New, plain language forms.
• Streamlines manual processes.
• Provides programming flexibility.
• Increases data accuracy.
• Provides automated dashboards and reports.

All employers and TPAs will need to create a MiLogin for Business account or use their pre-existing MiLogin account to access MiUI.

To access MiUI from MiLogin, employers should select the MiUI Employer Portal and TPAs should select the TPA Portal from the list of available services on the MiLogin for Business site.

MiUI Rollout

The new computer system rollout will occur in two phases:

• The initial phase, focusing on tax and employer maintenance functions, will launch December 15, 2025.
• The second phase, focusing on benefit related functions, will launch in summer of 2026.

Between the launch of the first and second phases, employers and TPAs will temporarily use both the MiUI and MiWAM systems. Once both phases of MiUI are up and running, any functions previously performed in MiWAM will be performed in MiUI.

To assist with this transition, several resources are available to help prepare employers and TPAs for the MiUI rollout:

• Employer Checklist: A list including monthly actions to prepare for the MiUI rollout.

• UIA Chat Bot: Ask questions of the chatbot as you navigate the UIA website to get an immediate response and to receive links or instructions about how to find the information you need.
