The Manufacturing Technology Mutual Insurance Company (MTM) has been proudly protecting Michigan manufacturers for more than 50 years and has created a legacy of partnership, collaboration and trust with its policyholders.
Through a longtime partnership with MTM, MMA members receive a 3 percent discount on Workers’ Compensation Premiums through the MFG Works Partners Program which has amounted to more than $1.57 million in Association discounts since the beginning of the program, and over $10 million in dividend payments to MMA members in the last eight years alone.
Establishing a high level of trust and providing exceptional service are core values at MTM that drive the entire team.
In addition to savings and dividend payments, policyholders benefit from a variety of services and programs designed to make workplaces safe while also reducing costs.
In 2025, MTM developed a new service through a partnership with Paradigm to offer 24/7 Nurse Triage services to policyholders —
at no additional cost. How it works: When an injury occurs, the employer calls a dedicated toll-free number and, within moments, the injured employee is connected to a registered nurse who evaluates the injury over the phone or via a video call and determines the most appropriate course of action.
Many injuries can be treated with on-site care, however, if additional treatment is needed, a nurse contacts the provider and ensures all necessary information is communicated before the employee arrives.

Having a medical professional just a phone call away helps take the medical decision-making out of the employer’s hands when responding to a workplace incident. The nurse can assess the reported injury, recommend the appropriate level of care and provide a documented record of that assessment, helping reduce the risk of miscommunication or disputes over whether an employee was advised to seek medical treatment.
“Many companies don’t want to put their supervisors in the position of determining whether an employee needs medical treatment,” says Andrew Brown, Marketing Manager for MTM, who previously worked as an insurance agent primarily serving manufacturers. “The people responding to workplace incidents are often safety managers or supervisors, not medical professionals. Nurse Triage gives them access to a medical professional who can assess the situation and help determine the appropriate next steps.”
Safety is not only the primary motivator for all manufacturing businesses but it also has a financial incentive. Focusing on safety helps control costs associated with workers’ comp and, ultimately, is beneficial for all stakeholders involved — employers and employees alike.
“We’ve seen companies save substantial amounts of money on their renewals by reducing the frequency and severity of their claims, which helps drive their premium down,” says Andrew Brown. “That money stays in the business and can be used for raises, bonuses, improving machinery or other operational improvements. It can have a huge benefit.”
The Nurse Triage service is the latest example of how MTM, in partnership with MMA, continues to deliver meaningful value to its member partners — from creating safer workplaces to strengthening the bottom line.
