MMA Opposes Prop 1

One statewide proposal you’ll see on the ballot in November is Proposal 1, which would convene a Constitutional Convention for the purpose of drafting a general revision of the state constitution.

While voters are asked this question every 16 years, MMA is concerned about the Pandora’s Box that could be opened by Proposal 1, threatening more economic instability and discouraging investment in the state. Special interests could completely overhaul and rewrite our state’s constitution with potentially devastating consequences for Michigan manufacturers for decades to come. 

MMA has joined Protect MI Constitution from Special Interests (PMCFSI), a broad coalition of organizations, including those that often disagree on policy, to show Michiganders the importance of voting NO on Proposal 1 to provide stability and keep in place hard-fought rights.

MMA Opposes Prop 2

Michigan voters will decide Proposal 2 in November, a measure backed by Michiganders for Money Out of Politics that would sharply restrict business advocacy and political engagement. While framed as campaign finance reform, the proposal would go much further — limiting the ability of companies and associations like MMA to exercise constitutionally protected free speech.

MMA has joined other business organizations in opposing the measure and urging that voters understand its full impact. If enacted, Proposal 2 could silence manufacturers and weaken their ability to advocate for policies and candidates that support jobs, investment and economic growth across Michigan.
